Pre-paid cards or cash will not be accepted for the security deposit.

Your car will be reserved for limited mileage. Some car companies have additional restrictions regarding mileage. Please refer to Hertz Corporation's specific policy.

Some states collect fees, or tolls, for access to certain roadways. Some tolls may be cashless and fees are paid via an electronic toll collection program. Engida may have a specific policy regarding cashless tolls, or offer the option to participate in their electronic toll collection program. We recommend you speak to the counter agent upon arrival about whether this may affect you.

Additional Driver / Operator

The person named on the reservation must be the main driver, present at time of rental and payer of any rental charges. Additional drivers are possible with a fee of USD 20  (including tax) per day . Additional drivers can be added to the rental agreement at any Engida branch within the city where the vehicle was rented. For further information please also refer to Age Restrictions and Exceptions and Driver s license.

Age

The minimum age for Engida rentals in Ethiopia is 21 years for all vehicle groups. The maximum age is 69 years for all vehicle groups. Requirements for corporate account customers may vary. Please contact the appropriate department.

 

Directions

AFTER-HOURS RETURNS Accepted Park & lock the car. Place the completed contract & the keys in the key drop box. Remember to take your personal belongings with you.

Credit Card Policies

Engida accepts the Credit  Card,  American Express, MasterCard and Visa.

Drivers License

At the time of rental, the driver must present a valid drivers license in the drivers name from their country of residence. Customers presenting a drivers license in a non-Roman alphabet must also present an International Driving Permit (IDP) to serve as a translation in addition to their valid drivers license.

Collision Damage Waiver (CDW)

Collision Damage Waiver is an optional service which, if accepted, reduces your financial liability for damage to the Engida vehicle, its parts and accessories, except for theft, attempted theft or vandalism, provided the vehicle is used in accordance with the terms and conditions of the rental agreement. CDW may be mandatory and included in some contract or preferential rates. If CDW is declined, you must provide proof of insurance (i.e. a current letter from your Insurance Company) and be responsible for the cost of repairing or replacing the damaged vehicle up to the full value of the vehicle. Please note your liability for damage to or loss of the vehicle will not be reduced where you or an authorised driver are grossly negligent (for example failure to assess the vehicle s height, driving on unsuitable road conditions, improper use of the vehicle, contribution to damage to / theft of the vehicle) and in particular, but not limited to, in the following circumstances: Striking overhead or overhanging objects; Driving into a barrier that is too low for the vehicle to pass beneath; Driving into a barrier in a car park before it fully opens; Driving on a road in bad condition without due care resulting in damage to the undercarriage; Driving on a beach causing damage by salt water and/or sand; Driving through flooded roads causing damage to the engine; Putting wrong fuel in the vehicle or otherwise contaminating the fuel; Damage occurring as a result of ignoring a warning light; Burning a clutch (which requires persistent ill use) or using the handbrake incorrectly; Damage to the wheel rim caused by driving with a flat tyre; Fitting unauthorised objects to the interior or exterior of the vehicle; Carrying especially dirty or smelly materials that require extra cleaning costs or that damage or burn the interior; Damage resulting from locking the keys in the vehicle or losing the keys; Damage resulting from leaving the windows open; Damage where the vehicle is taken beyond the borders of Kenya without written permission; Damage to tyres, undercarriage, wheel rims, windows and windscreens; Damage where no other vehicle, person, animal or object is involved; Damage caused when the vehicle is driven on untarred road or a road not suitable for the vehicle; Damage caused when vehicle is driven by unauthorised drivers; Damage caused by water; Accidents not reported within 6 hours to the nearest Police station and without the accident case number.

Cancellation Policy

Requests cannot be guaranteed as they are subject to availability. Payment due at pick-up. Payment must be paid 100 % in advance. . The company is not obliged to refund the full amount of any kind of cancellation. 10,000.00 Birr deposit is required for the car if it’s self-drive and 5,000 birr if it’s with a driver. Copy of driving license and Original passport is needed for self-drive. Or copy of business license, tin certificate, VAT certificate and guaranty letter with stamp on it. Driver's working hour will be starting from 8Am up to 6PM, anything before or after that will be registered as an overtime and 60 Birr will be charged per every extra hour. Additionally 300 birr for Saturday, 400 birr for Sunday and 500 birr if its holiday.
